The Best of Habitare 2016

Last week we had a great pleasure to visit the biggest design fair of Finland – Habitare. Please have a look at the best of Habitare 2016 aka our Top 5!

1. Signals / Future’s Trend Insights

The Signals exhibition was definitely one of the best of Habitare 2016. It included insights on the current and future trends in spatial solutions, built around four main themes: a mess, roots, art and love. Additionally, each visitor leaves the stand with a “love card”. Ours said “love is like a blender: mixes well, sometimes with freshly sharpen blades”.

2. The Block / Laura Väre

Laura Väre and Elina Ulvio shared a stand in The Block area of Habitare. Part of the exhibition was Laura’s fantastic Aava pendant lamp. Form of the lamp was inspired by nature and furthermore will be soon a part of Nordic Hysteria’s collection.

3. Muurame

Muurame has been in the market since 1950’s. The collection is designed based on standard modular measurements, which makes it easy to combine furniture with each other. The new trends in Muurame’s collection are the blue color and smooth, silky finishing. Additionally, Viisto dining table has been quite popular, thus, the company also developed a coffee table.

4. Holli

Holli is manufacturing their furniture in Kauhajoki, Finland. The family business consists of Jaakko Rinta-Pukkila and a designer Leena Niskanen. Holli’s furniture are simultaneously trendy and classic. Naturally, their collection received attention from international markets as well.

5. Block & BRICK / Tuulia Penttilä

Tuulia Penttilä presented at Habitare 2016 modular shelves from local wood: ash, oak, birch. She creates and manufactures all the designs in her own workshop in Fiskars. The highlights of her collection were the dining tables for cats and dogs. Shelves are easily fixed to the walls, look slick and make it very easy to clean the floor beneath them.
