A new co-working space that takes no excuses, has opened in Helsinki. In the city center on at Korkeavuorenkatu 35 recently opened its doors a great co-working space for startups and entrepreneurs: Microsoft Flux. The opening party took place last week, and now every other day there is some inspiring, socializing or educating event happening at the premises.
Microsoft Flux is a facility that can be used by anyone as their base camp, meeting area or daily office absolutely free of charge. Just drop by with your laptop at any time from 9am to 9 pm during the work days. For your disposal there are available: meeting rooms, Wi-Fi, X-Box, Foosball, free coffee and even beer. From the tap. Really.
Opportunities & Rules
The best part is that you can meet here new like-minded people. You can test together local 3D printers, laser cutters and octopus rift! Therefore, If you were lacking a space packed with technology to get your team together for a new big venture, now this excuse is gone. Even if you need to work at untraditional working hours the hosts can even give some visitors a 24h access key. Having the keys would mean that you really have to commit to the place. Commitment includes 3 basic rules: “Don’t steal anything, do not burn the place down and clean up after yourself”, challenging, yes, but manageable 🙂
“Don’t steal anything, do not burn the place down and clean up after yourself”
…challenging, yes, but manageable 🙂
Yet joke aside, Microsoft Flux is really a great place to visit and use. This week a wonderful movement Girls in Tech Helsinki embraced all the advantages of the co-working. “Girls in Tech goes Microsoft” event took place in the evening on Monday 25th of April. It contained several speakers, like Uchenna Ikegwuonu and Nicola Ralston telling their stories of women in tech industries and presenting career opportunities. All the speeches, of course, were topped with valuable networking.
But don’t trust all you read in the internet, just leave earlier from work and go check out the Microsoft Flux yourself, it’s just a 10 min walk from the Helsinki University metro station! One day you might even find me there, playing GTA on the X-Box… 🙂
