Gorgeous premises of the old Théâtre de la Gaîté got a new life and are now hosting a center of digital art and music: la Gaîté Lyrique. The Foyer Historique is a great inspiration source!
La Gaîté Lyrique
Originally, the architects Jacques-Ignace Hittorff and Alphonse Cusin designed the Theatre building in 1860s. Further on, following the needs of the modern society the premises became a cultural center. The City of Paris opened La Gaîté Lyrique in its current form to the public in December 2010.
Now the spacious and gorgeous halls offer a variety of services for active and curious minds. In Gaîté Lyrique you can work or study, have a drink or a brunch at the local cafe, or just read a book in a calm corner. Moreover, there constantly take place a variety of exhibitions, concerts, and workshops.
However, we as interior designers were mostly inspired and impressed by the spatial solutions. Old monumental pillars and rich ceiling decoration go surprisingly well with huge modern pendants and geometrical bar table. Additionally, colorful led lighting in the transition areas adds that little extra twist, which makes a space unique. Fortunately, the premises of Gaîté Lyrique are also available for rent.
